About Boiler Quotes
Boiler Quotes helps UK households find businesses to assess and price boiler, hot water and heating work. The site brings together six connected services, from a diagnostic visit when the boiler stops to a planned replacement when a repair no longer makes sense. You tell us about the job once, instead of explaining it from scratch to every firm you approach.
What happens after you enquire
Your postcode and chosen service help us seek suitable matches with up to four independent heating businesses. A business that responds can ask for more details, arrange a survey or diagnostic visit and prepare its own quotation. Coverage, workload and the type of work affect the number of responses; there may be fewer than four or none.
The enquiry service is free for homeowners. You can compare, ask questions or turn down every quotation. Investigation work is different from receiving a quote: an engineer may charge for finding a boiler fault or tracing a leak, and you should agree any attendance fee before booking.
Heating work goes beyond the appliance
A new boiler quote needs to consider flue routing, condensate drainage, the gas supply, system cleanliness and controls. A cylinder quote needs to cover capacity, recovery, immersion heaters and safety discharge arrangements where appropriate. Controls and filters can be useful additions, but they should be specified for the existing system rather than fitted simply because they appear in a package.
- Gas boiler replacement covers condensing combi, system and regular appliance changes, with the surrounding installation assessed.
- Hot water cylinder replacement includes vented and unvented storage where the supply and layout suit it.
- Heating controls work can include programmers, room and cylinder thermostats, radiator valves and zoning.
- Magnetic filters collect circulating debris and need space for regular servicing.
- Breakdown diagnosis establishes the cause of a fault before repair parts are agreed.
- Leak detection separates investigation, targeted access, pipe repair and reinstatement so you can see what is being priced.
Independent businesses and the checks you make
Companies joining the network are asked to supply relevant insurance details and references and select the services and areas they cover. This does not replace your own checks. Request current insurance information, examples of comparable work and the credentials of the person attending, especially where a business uses several engineers.
For gas work, verify Gas Safe registration and the relevant categories using HSE guidance on checking a Gas Safe engineer. Unvented hot water storage needs appropriately trained, competent installers; Approved Document G for England sets out England's safety guidance. Water-side leak tracing or filter fitting does not automatically require gas registration, while associated gas work does. Controls wiring also needs the right electrical competence. Requirements and notification routes vary across UK nations.
Who is responsible for the work?
Boiler Quotes provides the introduction. The engineer assesses your home, recommends the specification, sets the price and carries out the agreed work through their own business. Your contract, payment arrangements, warranty and any later remedial work are with the business you appoint. We do not employ the engineers or guarantee their quotations or workmanship.
A clearer comparison before you book
Ask for a written quotation that identifies the equipment, labour, visit fees and exclusions. For replacements, check who removes the old equipment, registers the warranty and handles the applicable notification. For leak work, ask who restores flooring and decoration. Confirm the total payable including any VAT, rather than comparing a labour-only figure with an all-in package.
Keep a copy of the quote, agreed changes, payment terms and handover records. If an engineer identifies additional work, ask for its scope and cost before authorising it. A lower headline figure can cover a different job, so the written detail matters.
Your enquiry details
The privacy policy explains how enquiry information is collected, used and shared. Read it before submitting personal details. The terms explain the introduction service, and the free quotation page helps you describe the work and compare responses.
